According to Chicago Sun-Times News, the Chicago Bulls are sending point guard Cameron Payne to the D-League. Payne was averaging 6 PPG, shooting 33% from the field and 25% from the free throw line.

Chicago traded Taj Gibson, Doug McDermott and a 2018 second-round draft pick to the Oklahoma City Thunder for a package deal that included Cameron Payne and Anthony Morrow.

The Bulls liked Payne because of what they saw in the draft.

“When Cam came out in the draft, we were, very high on him, Vice President John Paxson said, via Chicago Tribune.”

“We had some real good discussion about even trying to get him in that draft. We see him as a young guy who develop and get better.”

Payne missed the last three games because of a foot injury.

Via Chicago Sun-times:

“We’re going to send Cam down to the D League,’’ coach Fred Hoiberg said after pracice Monday. “He’s going to practice this afternoon and then he’ll play in tomorrow’s game. And then the plan is to see how things go with the game, practice with Windy City again on Wednesday and then play in the game on Thursday as well.’’

Chicago has been inconsistent at the point guard position this season.  Rajon Rondo will be the starting point guard, and Michael Carter-Williams will likely take over as the No. 2 point guard with Jerian Grant being out of the rotation the past few games.
