Unrestricted free agent Brandon Jennings has agreed to a 1-year, $1.5 million deal with the Shanxi Brave Dragons of the Chinese Basketball Association, according to ESPN’s Marc J. Spears. Jennings, who played for the New York Knicks and Washington Wizards last season, averaged 7 points, 2 rebounds, and 5 assists as a solid backup point guard for these two squads.
Jennings was the 10th pick of the 2009 NBA Draft and showed tremendous potential, including a 55-point performance in his rookie season against the Golden State Warriors. However, an Achilles injury and lack of talent around him rendered Jennings to a back up role.
While Jennings has agreed to play in China, he hopes to return to the NBA at the end of the Chinese season. For a guard who can score at will and is a solid facilitator, Jennings will be on the radar of many NBA teams come playoff time.
