Breaking the Lawson

on

According to a report from The Denver Post, Sacramento Kings guard Ty Lawson has had a bench warrant issued for his arrest in Colorado. The warrant comes in response to Lawson’s failure to pass a court-ordered sobriety test three times after racking up two DUIs in a years time before he signed with the Kings last summer.

While being supervised in California to ensure his sobriety, Lawson failed three tests, which were performed on September 27, September 29 and February 2. Along with his sobriety tests, he was also ordered to complete at least 48hrs of community service and was required to visit a therapist for 52hrs, both of which he failed.

Lawson’s attorney, Harvey Steinberg, came to his client’s aide, shutting down all reports that a warrant was actually out against Lawson. Steinberg went on recorded stating, “Reports that there is a warrant out for Mr. Lawson’s arrest are incorrect. On March 22, 2016, the court reset the matter for March 22, 2017, to review Mr. Lawson’s probation status. All related matters will be reviewed by the court at that time.”

If Lawson does not show up for his court appearance in Denver come the 22nd of this month, a warrant will definitely be issued. It’s worth noting that the Sacramento Kings play at home versus the Milwaukee Bucks that evening, though its safe to assume the organization will give him a pass to handle that matter at hand.
