Bucks Open Scrimmage a Huge Success

The state of Wisconsin witnessed a thorough thrashing of the Dallas Cowboys Sunday afternoon, but there was more on the docket.

The mid-afternoon Sunday football game did not seem to deter Wisconsin sports addicts, as thousands of fans packed the streets on their way to Fiserv Forum for the Milwaukee Bucks’ open intrasquad scrimmage.

The total number in the arena? 12,616.

Now that is no Packers family night scrimmage, but the preseason hype surrounding the Bucks is easily the largest in franchise history. Bucks fans still hold that sour taste in their mouths after last year’s implosion against Toronto in the Eastern Conference Finals.

Five months later, Cream City is ready to roar once again.

As for the scrimmage itself, the two starting lineups mirror what could be the initial 10-man rotation.

The most impactful player not starting on either squad? Donte DiVincenzo.

Donte appeared to have struck a spot in the rotation last year prior to going down with bilateral heel bursitis that sidelined him for the majority of the season. He appeared in 27 games last season, 23 of which were prior to 2019. He appeared in four consecutive games in March before heading back to the shelf for the remainder of the season.

From what we saw yesterday, DiVincenzo appears to be fully healthy and ready to go for preseason action.

Fiserv is no Lambeau, but a new fall sports tradition in Wisconsin could definitely be brewing. The intrasquad teams merge tonight in Chicago to kick off the 2019 preseason. Tip time 7 PM CT.
