Milwaukee Defeats New York 109-95
Christmas Day started off with a bang for Bucks fans. Participating in their first Christmas Day game since 1977, Milwaukee did not disappoint. As he always does when playing in MSG, Giannis showcased his freak nature. The Knicks did all they could, but the ending seemed inevitable. The Bucks would go on to earn their 23rd win of the season while handing New York their 26th loss.
It would be easy to dive in and discuss how Giannis stacked up his stats over the troubling Knicks, but as the world knows, it would have been a Miracle on 34th Street if he didn’t do as such. Finishing with 30 points, 14 rebounds, three assists, four steals and two blocks, the Greek Freak was the gift that kept on giving. This is no surprise to anyone who follows the NBA. The outcome was expected, but another area to focus on is that this was the weakest matchup of the day.
Santa Claus Is Coming To Milwaukee?
It is understood that New York City’s basketball market is huge. But if Giannis and the Bucks proved anything yesterday, it’s that next season, not only should the Bucks be playing on Christmas again, but they should be playing at Fiserv Forum in front of their home crowd. The NBA needs not to be concerned about selling out the Forum, as plenty of Bucks fans traveled east to see their favorite team play. If given a home contest, Fiserv Forum would be the place to be on Christmas Day.
The Bucks finish off 2018 against the same Knicks at home, followed with a Saturday matinee against the much improved Brooklyn Nets. It will be nice not to only finish off the year in Milwaukee, but against two teams who will challenge the Bucks, but not to the point of exhaustion. Both games are very winnable, but if basketball has taught us anything, it’s that anyone can win on any given night. The world took notice of the Bucks on Christmas Day, which they should– because Milwaukee is here and this team isn’t going anywhere.
