Bucks Waive Gerald Green

The Milwaukee Bucks have waived veteran forward Gerald Green, Shams Charania of the Vertical announced via Twitter.

This move was quite odd and surprising, as the Bucks had already cut their roster size down to the league’s requirement of 15 roster spots. Milwaukee waived Brandon Rush, Gary Payton II and Joel Anthony earlier this morning to fit that requirement. Whatever the motive, the Bucks clearly have eyes on someone else, and that someone could be Richard Jefferson, who is now a free agent after Atlanta waived him following their trade with the Cavs. Jefferson spent a full season with Milwaukee back in 2008-09, starting every game. He also spent seven seasons (2001-08) playing with Bucks head coach Jason Kidd in New Jersey.

Green, 32, has yet to find a stable home in the NBA, failing to stay with one team for more than two seasons. Milwaukee makes the sixth stop on Green’s team carousel since 2011, but he is still a very valuable role player that any contender could utilize.
