Can The Pack Bounce Back against the Rams?

Perhaps walking into Lambeau Field with a Brett Favre jersey wasn’t the best idea for Jordan Love.

After spending two weeks on the injury report, Love returned with a less-than-desirable performance in the first half. His completion percentage made all too much sense after donning the #4 pregame.

Between Love throwing two picks in the first two quarters of play, Brayden Narveson going 0/2 on field goals, and the defense having no answer for Justin Jefferson and Sam Darnold until the second half, a comeback became insurmountable. Despite their best efforts, Green Bay came up just short down the stretch. 

The Pack travel to L.A. this Sunday to try and get back on track.

Sean McVay vs Matt LaFleur

We know that CBS will be putting up a graphic of the Mike Shannahan coaching tree come Sunday afternoon. The two square off for the fifth time as Sean McVay will look for his first win over LaFleur.

In the Matt LaFleur era, the Packers have had nearly a two-touchdown average advantage over the Rams in the four meetings. One of those games included a 2021 divisional playoff win, 32-18.

With Love not looking 100 percent, this could be McVay’s chance to finally get on the right side of the win column.

We know what the Packers offense is capable of with Love under center. The Rams(1-3), on the other hand, have the 18th-ranked offense in terms of yardage and 23rd in terms of points. Their worst loss this season comes against the Arizona Cardinals, 41-10, and the Cardinals defense is giving up 350 yards per game, ranked 25th.

Now that Joe Barry is FINALLY gone (Sorry, the 2023 week 16 33-30 win to the worst offense-in-the-league Carolina Panthers last year might be living in my head rent-free).

Going Back in Time

The Rams have been back from St. Louis since 2016. The franchise’s infancy was in Cleveland from 1936 to 1945, but L.A. has been home to the franchise for more than half a century.

With the ’70s and ’80s being no good to the Packers, the DeLorean has to be set back quite some years to the last time they won in L.A. against the Rams.

The win came on December 18th, 1966 as the Packers and Zeke Bratkowski won 27-23 in the final week of the regular season. A few weeks later, the Green and Gold would win Super Bowl I.

It’s been 58 years. There are firsts on the line for both teams. Most importantly though, the Packers need to get above .500, while the Rams need to avoid dropping to 1-4. Neither record looks glamorous, but that won’t keep So-Fi from rocking come Sunday.
