Cavs Weighing Options Following Thomas’ Physical

The Cleveland Cavaliers might be having second thoughts on their blockbuster trade with the Boston Celtics after conducting a physical with PG Isaiah Thomas on Friday, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

Earlier this week, the two Eastern Conference powerhouses agreed to swap their All-Star Guards, with the Cavs dealing Kyrie Irving to Beantown for Isaiah Thomas, Jae Crowder, Ante Zizic, and the prized Brooklyn Nets 2018 draft pick.

Thomas’ hip injury was known when the trade was made, with Celtics GM Danny Ainge saying that Thomas would most likely be delayed to start the season. Thomas injured his hip during the Eastern Conference Finals and opted to not undergo surgery during the offseason.

When healthy, Thomas is a prolific scorer who can finish at the rim and is a decent shooter. Last season, he averaged 29 points and 6 assists for the Celtics, and led them to the Conference Finals, where they lost to Cleveland in 5 games.

Even if Thomas is out for the beginning of the season, the Cavaliers still have a potent line-up that can hold down the fort till he recovers. Overall, the Eastern Conference just got a little bit more interesting.
