Clippers, Knicks looking for third team for Melo trade

on

The Los Angeles Clippers and the New York Knicks are actively looking for a third team to complete the Carmelo Anthony trade saga. ESPN reported Friday that if the deal goes through, the star players of the Clippers would not be affected (Chris Paul, Blake Griffin, DeAndre Jordan).

In this particular instance, more than likely, J.J. Redick and/or Jamal Crawford will be dealt. Head Coach Doc Rivers has even hinted at the fact that his son, Clippers guard Austin Rivers, is also available.

In an interview with ESPN’s Rachel Nichols yesterday, Rivers said that his son could be one of them.

“Listen, I would trade anyone. You have to be willing to do that, so — and he would be one of them, and any of them would be one. But I don’t want to trade any of our guys. I like our team.”

The Knicks entertained the Cavs with a Melo-Love swap, but it was quickly turned down by the Cavs. So it seems like the Knicks are doing whatever it takes to get Melo out of NYC.

A team that has surfaced is Boston Celtics. The Knicks basically wanted to get all of the young core players from the Celtics, but Boston quickly turned that down as well.

One team who could entertain this deal would be the Orlando Magic. Most recently, there have been many reports that the Magic are actively shopping the Montenegrin center. Nikola Vucevic is averaging 13 points and eight rebounds per game.

Will the Magic entertain this? More than likely, however, the Celtics are the frontrunners, according to reports.
