Clippers Shoot Rings Around the Kings

The day after Christmas was not a kind one to the Sacramento Kings, losing 122-95 to the Los Angeles Clippers.

The first quarter was a back and forth affair with neither side pulling out a big gap. The Clippers were led by rookie Jamil Wilson who put up 14 points in the quarter as they jumped out to an eight point lead. However, this was erased by Sacramento, who ended the quarter on a 12-3 run to tie it up.

The game started falling away from the Kings in the 2nd quarter as Los Angeles continued to rain down shots. LAC shot 61% from the floor and 50% from downtown in the first half as they amassed an 18 point lead. Sacramento meanwhile had only made 2 three pointers all half.

The 3rd quarter looked to be much of the same, with the Clippers strengthening their lead and the Kings chasing. Only Willie Cauley-Stein, Buddy Hield, and Malachi Richardson scored double digits points for the Kings. Meanwhile, Wilson and Milos Teodosic were having career nights for the Clippers. Wilson recorded 17 points and Teodosic got 10 assists. While the reserves performed admirably in the 4th quarter, it made little difference in the scoreline as LAC won 122-95.

Cauley-Stein led the team in scoring (17) and rebounds (5) while George Hill was the assist leader (5). Sacramento travels back home tomorrow to take on the Cavaliers.
