Clippers Bring Back Familiar Face

The LA Clippers have agreed to bring back former Houston Rocket Luc Mbah a Moute on a one-year, $4.3 million deal, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski first broke via Twitter.

This categorizes as a “Taxpayers MLE” under the new CBA. With this deal, the Clippers now lock up a pretty solid wing group including Mbah a Moute, Avery Bradley, Tobias Harris and Sam Dekker. They also drafted Jerome Robinson to fill in another wing spot.

Mbah a Moute had a fairly decent season with Houston, tallying 7.5 points (48% FG, 36% 3Pt), three rebounds and one assist per game. He was one of the better defensive wings in the entire NBA last season with a 1.5 defensive +/-. The Clippers are bringing Mbah a Moute back for defensive help, as they struggled last season on that end of the floor, but with enough offensive involvement, he could be a solid option there as well. I imagine him coming off the bench behind Tobias Harris, sparking the second unit on both ends, and being a vet leader for guys like Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Jerome Robinson.
