Another night, another dismal display from the Sacramento Kings as they got hammered for the 2nd time this week by the Los Angeles Clippers 126-105.
The teams met in L.A. this time around and it produced much of the same. The Clippers were without DeAndre Jordan after he sprained his left ankle in the last game. L.A. pulled out a 21-10 lead and things went downhill from that point on. Willie Reed and Montrezl Harrell stepped up in Jordan’s absence to lead the frontcourt. Defense was once again the focal point of the Kings’ problems as they couldn’t stop the Clippers’ shooting attack. Sacramento once again allowed a 60-point first half as they went into halftime down 64-45.
The bright spot for the Kings was Willie Cauley-Stein, who continued his run of form by carrying the team’s offense. He finished with 23 points and 13 rebounds, leading the team in both categories. Over on the Clippers side, Williams continued his hot streak by recording 26 points and 4 steals, meaning he has scored 106 points in his last 3 games. De’Aaron Fox recovered from a slow start to get his second career double-double with 17 points and 10 assists. Despite a comeback attempt by Sacramento, the Clippers swept the season series with a 126-105 win.
The loss drops the Kings to last place in the Western Conference as they prepare to play 7 of the next 8 games on the road. They will play the Thunder on Monday night in Oklahoma City.
