On the 93rd anniversary of the franchise, the Washington Commanders unveiled new alternate jerseys, styled after the “Super Bowl Era.” The design closely resembles the colors from the team’s previous identity, and the helmet features the iconic white and gold stripes down the center.

They will first wear the jerseys when the Seahawks come to town in Week 9 for Sunday Night Football. Washington will also wear them in Week 13 against the Broncos and on Christmas Day against the Cowboys.

The jerseys are reminiscent of the glory days of Washington football. Players like Doug Williams, Joe Theismann and John Riggins wore jerseys similar to these when Washington won three Super Bowls in nine years from 1983-1992.

“Ever since Josh Harris and our ownership acquired the team back in 2023, they’ve placed great value in finding ways to connect the past and present and honor those that made the burgundy and gold what it is today,” said Team President Mark Clouse. “These uniforms recognize the most successful era of our franchise—one that reflects a culture of excellence and encompasses many historical moments and special memories amongst our fanbase.”

It’s only fitting for the Commanders to wear jerseys that honor their championship tradition as they look to build on their first NFC Championship appearance since that era. With these new uniforms, the Commanders are embracing their legacy and setting their sights on building the next era of success.
