Drake Has a “New Friend” on the Suns

We’re all familiar with Drake’s famous hit song back in 2013 with DJ Khaled, “No New Friends.” Well it appears that Phoenix Suns sophomore guard, Devin Booker has became an exception to Drake’s rule.

Toronto rapper and Toronto Raptor fan, Drake is near the end of his Summer Sixteen Tour, where he had a performance in Phoenix on September 6th. During that concert, Drake decided to show up in the All-Rookie 1st Team member’s jersey as he put on a show that went longer than expected. The Views artist told the crowd that he would be fined if he did the concert any longer and then stated, “Get my credit card and put that s—t on it.” As he performed more songs for the Phoenix crowd before wrapping up the show.

In response to Drake wearing the 13th overall pick of the 2015 draft’s jersey, Booker tweeted a picture with the caption “My brother. @Drake”. Former Degrassi actor has made it well known that he is a huge Kentucky Wildcat fan and that just so happens to be where Booker attended his only year of college before declaring for the NBA draft. Drake has been very open about his friendships with multiple NBA players (LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, DeMarcus Cousins, etc.).

He’s even acknowledged multiple players in his songs, “I been Steph Curry with the shot” (0 to 100 / The Catch Up) and also, “Shout out to KD [Kevin Durant], we relate we get the same attention” (Weston Road Flows). This could lead up to a lot more fame for the 19 year-old guard, who knows he might even end up on stage at Drake’s next Phoenix show, like NBA star LeBron James did at the rapper’s concert in Columbus, OH this August.
