Welcome to Week 7. Up to this point, we’ve seen a handful of rookies break out, while we’re still waiting on others. There’s a top-10 pick from this year’s draft whose talent is undeniable and whose time is inevitable. This player headlines the list of buy-low targets this week. As always, I’m here every Wednesday with three players to make inquiries about across fantasy leagues.
Rome Odunze, WR, Chicago Bears
Odunze has yet to truly break out during his rookie season, but signs show he’s getting close. He’s beating man coverage at a high rate, but he’s seen just 11 targets over his past three games. While offensive coordinator Shane Waldron has made improvements to his play calling after his intervention, Odunze has yet to see the role he’s deserving of. The Bears have the week off to make further adjustments, and they’ll come back to favorable matchups against Washington and Arizona, setting up Odunze for the second-half breakout.
Jaylen Waddle, WR, Miami Dolphins
Waddle owners are either nearing the end of their patience with Waddle or holding on until Tua Tagovailoa returns. Either way, he’s sitting on plenty of benches, and there are desperate managers out there who need a win. Waddle won’t help them with that for at least two more weeks, so attack if the opportunity is there.
CeeDee Lamb, WR, Dallas Cowboys
Watching the Cowboys bottom out against the Lions at home will certainly affect the way a manager views his players. We’ve seen this story before with Lamb and Dad Prescott, as the two struggled during the first half of last season before turning it on down the stretch. What we know isn’t going away with Lamb is volume. His 55 targets are third-most in the league, and we can expect the Cowboys to continue their pass-heavy approach thanks to their lack of talent in the run game. Lamb’s touchdown numbers are lower than expected in correlation with his yardage numbers, and he should expect more end-zone trips in the future, too. The time is now to acquire Lamb.
