Fred Hoiberg On The Hot Seat

Fred Hoiberg was just hired by the Chicago Bulls to replace then Head Coach Tom Thibodeau, but now a report from Marc Stein of ESPN says that Hoiberg is on the hot seat.

The article from Stein stated that due to the slow start of the Chicago Bulls, 16-16 record, the Bulls organization are questioning if he is a good enough fit for the team or not.

“The Bulls went 42-40 in Hoiberg’s debut campaign, missing the playoffs for the first time in eight seasons. The coaching staff was then shuffled coming into this season, as well as the roster, but the departures of Derrick Rose and Joakim Noah and corresponding arrivals of Wade, Rondo and Michael Carter-Williams haven’t nudged the 16-16 Bulls any closer to the 50-win standard Thibs established,” Stein wrote on ESPN.com

This is Hoiberg’s second season with the Bulls. Last season, he finished 42-40 and missed the postseason. After signing the like of Rajon Rondo and Dwyane Wade in the offseason, the Bulls again are playing sluggish basketball.

If the Bulls decide to part ways with Hoiberg, since his contract is guaranteed, then they would be paying a hefty amount of his guaranteed contract. According to Stein and his sources, this is a key and pivotal reason why Hoiberg is still a member of the franchise.
