Warriors Suffer Big Loss; Don’t Over React

The new look Golden State Warriors opened their season Wednesday night against the San Antonio Spurs. Golden State looked absolutely horrible, they got completely outplayed in a losing route of 129-100. Looking back on this game 3 big reasons appeared why Golden State lost tonight. Turnovers, Defense, and Rebounding. The Warriors, were very careless with the basketball tonight committing 16 turnovers. Not only were turnovers an issue but, Golden State only had a total of 27 rebounds. Giving up 20 offensive rebounds, that turned into extra points for the Spurs. The Warriors really struggled on defensive as well, giving up 64 points at the half.

The Spurs just sent a message to the entire western conference, that they are not to be slept on. Kawhi Leonard scored a career high 35 points shooting 10-21 from the field tonight. He also had 31 one of those points after the 3rd quarter. If you didn’t believe Leonard was a top 5 player in this game, well think again because he is the real deal. Aldridge looked great adding in 26 points himself showing the world, that it would be a huge mistake for San Antonio to trade him. The Spurs played with excellent ball movement all night, making the Warriors defense looking pretty foolish all night. San Antonio really exposed the defense and lack of a rim protector and big men for Golden State.

In most cases like this, I would say just relax because it’s only the first game of the season. However, with this Warriors team you can’t quite say that this time. This team has 2 of the top 5 players in the world in Kevin Durant and Stephen Curry. Two other all stars in Klay Thompson and Draymond. (all NBA players). Yes, it will take Golden State some time to build chemistry but remember that Golden State has 4 all NBA players in their starting lineup. Are you telling me that not one of the big 4 can step up? The Warriors are probably the greatest offense constructed on paper. Somebody out of that big 4 should be able to step up every single night literally. Yes, they need to fix the defensive and rebounding issues, they showed tonight. However, with the offensive firepower they have, you should still find a way to win. The Warriors are still the favorites to win the championship and still considered the best team in the NBA right now. Yes, they got exposed in some cases tonight. But when June rolls around, they will have those small issues fixed by then.
