New Year, New Injury? That seems to be the case for Rockets G James Harden, who ended 2017 in the worst way possible.

The Rockets superstar was diagnosed with a Grade 2 hamstring strain on Monday, after hurting it late in the fourth quarter of the Rockets’ double-overtime win over the Los Angeles Lakers.

Harden’s teammates, Chris Paul and Trevor Ariza, spoke about their leader’s injury after their win over the Lakers.

“Yeah, we lost our horse,” Paul said.

“If James misses time, it is going to be tough. Since I have been here, he’s been here, he has been on the court, he has been available. So for him to have to miss time, it would definitely be tough, definitely be an adjustment,” said F Trevor Ariza.

Harden was last year’s runner-up in MVP voting, and is leading the way again this year, averaging 32.1 PPG, 9.1 APG, and 5.0 RPG for the Rockets, who are currently second in the Western Conference behind the Golden State Warriors. The Rockets have gone a mere 1-5 in their last six games and are going to really need to step up if they want to keep pace with the defending champs.
