Another slow start and poor shooting performance led to the Sacramento Kings losing their 5th straight game after a 101-83 loss against the Indiana Pacers on Tuesday.
Sacramento got off to another slow start, not scoring a basket for the first three minutes and entering the first time-out down 13-4. Fortunes did not improve throughout the rest of the quarter, as the Kings shot 30 percent (6 of 20) and made only 1 out of 4 free throws as Indiana led at the end of the first quarter, 24-13.
By the end of the 2nd, Indiana had taken a 55-30 lead, outscoring the Kings 31 to 17. Sacramento’s shooting percentage had climbed up to 31 percent, only making 9 percent from beyond the arc.
After the half, Sacramento managed to find their footing and outscored Indiana in both quarters, but they weren’t able to overcome the deficit from the first half as they went on to lose by 18 points, 101-83.
Sacramento’s bench ended up outscoring the starters 48-35 as De’Aaron Fox led the team in scoring and assists with 18 points and 5 assists, recovering from Sunday’s start against the Wizards where he only scored 2 points. Bojan Bogdanovic led the Pacers with 17 points and Domantas Sabonis racked up 16 rebounds as they push their record above .500 to 4-3 as they prepare to take on Cleveland tomorrow.
The Kings rank 29th out of 30 teams in points per game scoring 94.1 points/game with only the Chicago Bulls ranking below them, and are also have the 4th worst shooting percentage in the league. The Kings fall to 1-6 and will travel to Boston for a matchup against the Celtics tomorrow.
