Two games, two suits.
That’s all we’ve seen thus far from Brandon Jennings, who, along with rookie DJ Wilson, has been inactive thus far this series.
As the Bucks head back to Milwaukee for game three down 0-2, adjustments need to be made.
With Eric Bledsoe struggling (21 points, 9/25 FG, 8 assists, 6 turnovers through two games), it may be time to shake things up before things get out of hand.
I still believe Bledsoe can shake off the rough playoff start, but tossing in a second unit general could prove a potential difference in this series. We all saw what Norman Powell meant to the Raptors in last year’s series, as he didn’t really play until Raptors head coach Dwane Casey increased his role in the rotation in game four, which proved to be the X Factor in the series.
If Jennings is asked to dress, someone else would have to take his inactive slot. Here are the potential options for that:
#1: Thon Maker
“Playoff Thon” has yet to make an appearance so far (outside of game 2’s one minute of garbage time). John Henson has started both games, with Tyler Zeller and Giannis taking the rest of the minutes at center. Thon unfortunately hasn’t developed yet, so it wouldn’t be surprising if he continues to receive DNP-CD’s.
#2: Sterling Brown
Sterling also did not play in game one, but received just under nine minutes of action in game two, as Prunty emptied the bench in attempt to find some defensive solutions. Sterling showed some bright spots in the regular season, but with a fully healthy roster, he just doesn’t have a spot in the rotation right now.
#3: Matthew Dellavedova
I don’t see this one happening, but it is still something to consider. Delly is almost in the same boat as Jennings, two distributing guards who haven’t seen any floor time (ignoring Delly’s meaningless five minutes in game 2).
So Joe, whatever you decide to do for game three, please, do it for the culture.
