After 14 years in the NBA, James Jones is calling it quits.

The three-time NBA champion announced his retirement from his playing career earlier today, but has immediately been named Vice President of Basketball Operations for the Phoenix Suns, Fox Sports Arizona announced via Twitter.

Jones is rejoining the organization in which he played for back in 2005-2007, averaging a career best 7.8 points per game over two seasons.

Jones hasn’t seen meaningful playing time since the 2010-11 season with Miami, in which he still barely received 19 minutes of floor time per game. He has often been referred to as the “LeBron coat tail rider”, as he has spent the last several seasons with LeBron in both Miami and Cleveland.

The 36-year-old averaged a modest 5.2 points and 1.8 rebounds across 15.7 minutes per game in his 14-year career.
