Since 2011, NBA Hall of Famer Jerry West has been a huge adviser for the Golden State Warriors. Not only did his guidance help bring Golden State 2 championships in the last 3 seasons, but ever since West has been apart of the organization, the Warriors have only missed the playoffs once.
After bringing the Warriors much success in his tenure as an adviser, after winning the 2017 NBA Finals West said, “I knew I was going to be leaving. I didn’t know what I was going to be leaving to.”
Unofficially Sports Illustrated has reported Jerry West has made his decision to advise the Los Angeles Clippers starting next season. West spoke highly of Clippers’ owner Steve Ballmer, “He’s a winner, and he wants to win.” West stated, “He will let Doc and Lawrence Frank make decisions, and hopefully I can help. That’s really all I care about.”
The Warriors will continue to have success, and right around the same time West started his role in Golden State, the Clippers have been on a franchise roller coaster moving around from the first and second round without getting over their playoff hump. Jerry West could possibly bring playoff success to the Clippers organization with his wise business decisions he’s made with the Warriors; including the decision not to trade now 3x All-Star, Klay Thompson for Kevin Love.
With West leaving the Bay, he’s got nothing but love for the Warriors organization and told ESPN, “I’ll be forever grateful they gave me an opportunity to be involved. If I helped, that’s up to them to judge, not me.”
