Is Joakim Noah Worth $18 Million?

As the Knicks are closing on a deal reportedly worth $18 million with Joakim Noah, the question that everyone wants to know is, Is Joakim Noah worth $18 Million?  If we’re basing it off his last two seasons then the answer is no.  That’s without a question considering Noah has been well below average in his last two seasons.  During the 2014-2015 season Noah averaged 7 PPG, 9.6 RPG, and 4.7 APG, and shot 44.5% from the field.  This past season Noah would play worse than that, and put up 4.3 PPG, 8.8 RPG, and shot 38.3% from the field!  For a 7 Footer to shoot that bad from the field something is clearly off.

Now mind you that there was one point in Noah’s career where he would be worth this amount of money, as he averaged a double-double in 5 consecutive seasons.  The Knicks would be taking a gamble on Noah as he hasn’t been that great the past two seasons, but it’s not impossible for Noah to get back to his old self.  Noah is only 31 years of age, and this past season he battled injuries which impacted his numbers.  Noah only played in 29 games, so if he could some how stay healthy for the Knicks, this could be a great deal.  Noah could be the defensive anchor for this team, if he was able to return back to the old Noah.
