Joe’s Top 5 MVP Rankings:

on

With the NBA season almost over, one of the most popular debates is who is going to win MVP. While this season it appears as though Stephen Curry has the award locked up, it’s always fun to display your opinions. That’s why in this article I am going to go into detail ranking my top 5 MVP candidates. Just a word of warning though, you might not be able to handle it:

HONORABLE MENTIONS:

JAMES HARDEN – HOUSTON ROCKETS

KYLE LOWRY – TORONTO RAPTORS

DRAYMOND GREEN – GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS

DAMIAN LILLARD – PORTLAND TRAIL BLAZERS

CHRIS PAUL – LOS ANGELES CLIPPERS

Now onto the top 5:

5TH PLACE): STEPHEN CURRY – GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS

2015-16 STATS: 30.2 PPG – 5.4 RPG – 6.6 APG – 2.1 SPG – 0.2 BPG – 50.7% FG – 45.3% 3FG – 90.4% FT

CASE FOR: Simply put, Curry has the best stats on the best team in the NBA. He also has a super hot mom, a super good looking wife, a super good looking sister, and just a perfect life in general.

CASE AGAINST: His antics and lack of sportsmanship(i.e. shimmy shaking, taking incredibly deep 3 pointers) are unacceptable and set a bad example for our nation’s youth. If he conducted himself in a more classy manner like Kawhi Leonard(more on him later), he’d easily be higher.

4TH PLACE): KEVIN DURANT – OKLAHOMA CITY THUNDER

2015-16 STATS: 27.8 PPG – 8.3 RPG – 5.0 APG – 0.9 SPG – 1.2 BPG – 50.8% FG – 38.7% 3FG – 89.3% FT

CASE FOR: The best scorer in the NBA. Has developed into a very well rounded player over his career by improving as a passer & defender. Very efficient.

CASE AGAINST: Makes very unfunny Sonic commercials. Has a history of leaving and abandoning whatever teams he plays for. Spent just 1 year at Texas and left them for the Seattle SuperSonics, then left the SuperSonics after 1 year to join Oklahoma City. Will probably leave Oklahoma City after this year, shows he isn’t trustworthy and that’s not what an MVP is about.

3RD PLACE): RUSSELL WESTBROOK – OKLAHOMA CITY THUNDER

2015-16 STATS: 23.6 PPG – 7.7 RPG – 10.4 APG – 2.1 SPG – 0.3 BPG – 45.4% FG – 30.0% 3FG – 81.3% FT

CASE FOR: Devastating all-around offensive player. Makes getting triple doubles look easier than any other player. Looks like a Ninja turtle which is in all honestly his best argument for why he deserves MVP.

CASE AGAINST: Not a great defender or as good as he should be considering his freakish athleticism. Takes way too many 3 pointers(I partially blame Stephen Curry for being a bad influence). Has won 0 titles in his career.

2ND PLACE): LEBRON JAMES – CLEVELAND CAVALIERS

2015-16 STATS: 25.0 PPG – 7.4 RPG – 6.6 APG – 1.4 SPG – 0.6 BPG – 51.0% FG – 28.9% 3FG – 72.1% FT

CASE FOR: He made the Cleveland Cavaliers into title contenders. Read the first sentence again, and then read it a third time. Yeah, that’s all I need to say really.

CASE AGAINST: Has acted like a weirdo over the last few weeks. Has lost 4 NBA Finals in his career, which is 4 more than Kwame Brown, Adam Morrison & Anthony Bennett combined. Not a very good GM.

1ST PLACE): KAWHI LEONARD – SAN ANTONIO SPURS

2015-16 STATS: 21.0 PPG – 6.8 RPG – 2.5 APG – 1.8 SPG – 0.9 BPG – 50.9% FG – 46.2% 3FG – 88.0% FT

CASE FOR: The most humble player in the NBA by far and it’s not close. His humbleness alone helps his team win games. Excellent defender. Very efficient from the field. Produces very good numbers. Plays for the Spurs.

CASE AGAINST: Sometimes can be too humble and not selfish enough(pretty much the opposite of Stephen Curry). Other than that he has no flaws in his game.

Well folks, there’s my list. I’m sure haters will say it’s stupid but it’s MY list so BACK OFF.
