LeBron James Offers Kind Words To Jrue Holiday

Before Monday’s tip off against the New Orleans Pelicans, LeBron James spoke to Jrue Holiday and offered him some encouragement due to his wife’s health.

Holiday’s wife, Lauren Holiday who is a former U.S Women’s national soccer team player, went through a frightening surgery this past October.  Lauren had brain surgery in which she had a benign tumor removed.  A few weeks prior to the surgery Lauren gave birth to their Daughter.

The NBA community offered their blessings and support for Holiday during this difficult time for his family, including LeBron James.

Holiday tells ESPN that he was grateful for LeBron’s support, especially since they didn’t really have a prior relationship before then.

LeBron spoke with ESPN following the game, and gave his outlook on the situation.

“When we heard about it, me and my family and my wife heard about it, we were in L.A. at the time in the off-season and we automatically had a prayer for her,” James said. “This is a brotherhood, no matter if you’re on the same team or not, this is a fraternity. Our league is a fraternity. Any time someone’s family is going through a situation like that, you just hope the greater God above is looking out for him. So, I couldn’t wait to actually see him today.”

Holiday was grateful for James post game comments.

“To know that this league and somebody of his caliber and the effect that he has on the game like he does can really have support for my family is awesome.”

Holiday would go on to finish the game with 11 points, 4 rebounds, and 13 assist.

After missing the first 12 games of the season to spend with his family, Holiday seems to be getting back into his rhythm.  He is averaging 14.4 ppg and 7.3 apg for the Pelicans this season.
