The Atlanta Hawks have agreed to a deal to send F Kyle Korver to the Cleveland Cavaliers. Korver spent five seasons with the Hawks.
Korver will be filling the void left by G J.R. Smith, who is out until mid-March due to surgery on his right thumb. Korver will be expected to start for the Cavaliers.
Korver is respected around the league as one of the greatest shooters of all time. For his career, he shoots 42% from long range and is also an 88% free throw shooter as well while being a member of the Hawks. Korver has averaged 11 points per game and also shot 42% from three.
Yahoo Sports The Vertical reported that Cleveland would be sending F Mike Dunleavy as part of the deal. Dunleavy is averaging 4 points per game making that a career low.
Korver will not only be surrounded by great players, but also a system that could utilize his shooting ability. The only issue to consider is if when Smith returns will start, or once again become the 6th man.
The trade has not been finalized according to Yahoo! Sports The Vertical, but will be in the coming hour.
