Lavar Ball, father of UCLA star Lonzo Ball and high school phenoms LaMelo and LiAngelo Ball has gotten the attention of probably every basketball fan, player, or even coach you could possibly find. Now he has gotten that attention of LeBron James.
Just recently, Lavar told MSN that his son, Lonzo, is the best player in the world.
“To me, Zo is the best player in the world,” LaVar says. Yes, even better than all-stars LeBron James and Russell Westbrook,” Lavar told MSN.
Lavar has even mentioned LeBron’s two children, Bryce Maximus and LeBron JR. Per ESPN’s Dave McMenamin, Ball said that too many expectations will be set for the kids to be just as good as their dad.
“The monsters in the NBA, their dads wasn’t that good,” Ball said. “They were OK, they were players, but the fact that the old [Dell] Curry wasn’t no All-Star, he wasn’t cold. He could shoot the ball, though. Kobe Bryant, his dad wasn’t all that, that’s why he’s such a monster.
“You got LeBron, it’s going to be hard for his kids because they are going to look at them like, ‘You got to be just like your dad.’ And after a while, that pressure starts sitting on you like, ‘Why do I get to be just like him? What can’t I just be me?’ And then they are going to be like, ‘Aw, you’re soft, you’re not that good.’ Because the expectation is very, very high.”
Earlier today, James spoke with reporters to get a message to Lavar.
