The Los Angeles Lakers and Luke Walton came to an agreement earlier today for Walton to become their next head coach.  Walton, who became a hot candidate this season after leading the Golden State Warriors to an NBA best 24-0 start, and a 39-4 record as the interim coach.  Walton is one of the brightest young coaches in the NBA, and rightfully deserved this opportunity.

Walton played 10 seasons in the NBA, where he won 2 championships with the Los Angeles Lakers.  The fans loved him as a player, the city loves him, and now they can enjoy him as a coach.

Laker’s GM Mitch Kupchak had this to say about Walton.  “He’s one of the brightest young coaching minds in the game and we feel fortunate that he’ll be leading the on-court future of our team.  We feel he’s going to start an outstanding coaching career.”

Walton will sign his contract at the end of the Warriors season.
