The Las Vegas Raiders can never seem to get out of the spotlight, at least when it comes to trade rumors. Right now, the light is as bright as it can be regarding the future of the franchise’s star player in Maxx Crosby.

Over the past few offseasons, trade rumors surrounding Crosby have tended to swirl around the league. It reached a new climax after the Raiders decided to shut down the productive defensive end. The decision came with only two games left in the 2025 season.

Crosby disagreed with the decision, leaving their All-Pro edge rusher disgruntled after leaving the team facility.

Amid this, the Raiders are preparing for their biggest offseason yet.

The franchise will have ample amounts of cap space plus the No. 1 pick in the upcoming NFL Draft. In addition, there’s also a new head coach coming in to guide the franchise through another rebuilding period. There is potential excitement given these resources.

But, it comes to a pause with a potential exit looming for Crosby.

Jay Glazer Details Crosby’s Apparent Frustrations

Glazer recently made an appearance on Yahoo Sports during Super Bowl media week. He explained how the Las Vegas Raiders’ decision to shut down Crosby was a mistake.

“There’s a couple of guys. If they tell you they’re playing, they’re playing,” Glazer said. “It’s not open for discussion.”

Shortly after, Glazer received this straight-forward question: “Do you think Crosby’s time with the Raiders done?”

“I do,” Glazer responded immediately. “The day it (shutting down Crosby) happened, no less than 20 teams called me and asked ‘dude, is this real? Can we get him?'”

Glazer publicly claims to have a close relationship with Crosby. He is stating he has firsthand insight into the situation regarding Maxx’s frustrations with the decision to shut him down.

The Raiders continue to remain firm on not moving on from Maxx Crosby, despite their repetitive cycle of losing seasons and multiple head coaches. At one point in 2024, Raiders Owner Mark Davis sent an email to ESPN stating they were not trading Crosby during that year’s trade deadline.

Crosby Clears The Air On Rumors

After Jay Glazer’s comments put fans in a chokehold, Crosby appeared on multiple national media outlets on Friday to break his silence. On the NFL Network, he lightly touched on his offseason as he rehabs from his meniscus surgery.

“Vegas is my home,” Crosby said. “I’m out here training and rehabbing. Everyone knows I had to get my meniscus surgery… I’m in here 5:50 every morning like usual. It’s been three years in a row where I’ve had to start the offseason in rehab, but there’s no excuses. You got to get the work done.”

Of note, Crosby did not directly mention the Raiders in his interview with the NFL Network.

But, he did express how he felt on The Herd about the trade rumors.

“Now that I’m quiet, now I got random people making big statements for me, and they’re like, ‘oh, Maxx must have told them this.’ For me, I just sit back and laugh, because I know my truth, and when I go to bed at night, I have a smile on my face because I don’t have to explain nothing to nobody,” Crosby said on The Herd.

Similarly, Maxx Crosby didn’t confirm directly whether he’s staying or leaving.

That said, he made it clear the noise isn’t affecting him personally. He’s observing from afar, while keeping his focus on getting back to full health in his rehab.

Is Maxx Crosby Worth a Massive Trade Package?

Crosby statistically remains one of the league’s best pass rushers heading into his eighth NFL season. At 28 years old, he is still valuable enough to get a major haul via a trade.

In his aforementioned interview with Yahoo Sports, Glazer does believe Crosby could be traded for a bigger trade package than what the Dallas Cowboys received for All-Pro Micah Parsons.

The Cowboys traded Parsons to the Green Bay Packers for two first-round picks, plus former Pro-Bowler Kenny Clark.

Would Maxx Crosby get an equal return, similar to the Parsons’ trade? Absolutely. Now, if Crosby is worth a larger package than Parsons, it would seem smart for the Raiders to take that chance and bring in a haul for the star edge.

In such a move, the Raiders would be without a franchise player if he were traded off to another team.

If the package were similar to what the Packers got in return, getting back a defensive player with upside or production would be ideal. However, having no notable edge rushers is an underwhelming look for the team’s defensive line. In 2025, the Raiders ranked 18th in total sacks.

Overall, it wouldn’t be an ideal move to trade a top pass rusher while not being compensated with a stable defensive player.

Despite the noise surrounding the Raiders and Maxx Crosby, there will never be a clear answer until Crosby speaks for himself. The noise is tuned out from Crosby’s mind as he progresses each day toward getting back on the field.
