NBA Investigating Lakers For Tampering Over Paul George

The NBA announced on Sunday that they have opened an independent investigation of tampering charges against the Los Angeles Lakers. The probe started after a complaint put forth by the Indiana Pacers.

“At the request of the Indiana Pacers, the NBA opened an investigation into alleged tampering by the Los Angeles Lakers,” Mike Bass, an NBA executive vice president, said in a statement.  “The Lakers have been cooperative and, at this point, no findings have been made.  We have asked both teams to refrain from commenting while the investigation is ongoing.”

The allegations pertain to improper contact between former Pacers star Paul George and Magic Johnson, according to Peter Vecsey.

This might explain why Magic was so happy earlier this offseason during the Paul George trade speculation.

The Lakers have definitely captured the NBA’s interest, for the right and wrong reasons.
