Pelicans to Waive Terrence Jones

The New Orleans Pelicans are planning on waiving PF Terrence Jones, according to Justin Verrier of ESPN announced via Twitter.

After last Sunday’s acquisition of DeMarcus Cousins, Terrence Jones expressed interest in being traded, but the Pelicans ultimately did not find a suitor. There is a good chance Jones gets claimed by one of the other 29 teams in the league. If he does not, he will become a free agent.

Jones is averaging 11.5 points, 5.9 rebounds, and one block over 24.8 minutes per game this season. The former Kentucky Wildcat has shown signs that he can play at a high level, but behind Anthony Davis and now DeMarcus Cousins on the Pelicans depth chart, he does not see himself in New Orleans’ future.
