Spike Lee is Recruiting Ray Allen to the Knicks

The New York Knicks have made some drastic changes this off-season, from being one of the worse teams in the NBA to being a “Super Team,” as Derrick Rose said during an interview a few weeks back.  The Knicks have added guys like Derrick Rose, Joakim Noah, and Courtney Lee to the team, but the latest signing rumor could make them a serious threat in the East.

According The Hartford Courant‘s Don Amore, Spike Lee is recruiting Ray Allen to the Knicks.

“Spike Lee has been trying to recruit me … We’ve been texting,” Allen said.

“My decision is predicated on what is available … I said that I was interested because I never retired for a reason. I’ve been watching, seeing what teams have been doing and I’ve been waiting to see if the opportunity presented itself where I think I could fit.”

Ray Allen is 41 years old, does he realistically have what it takes to compete at a high level against the best players in the world?  According to Allen, that’s not a concern.

“I worked out the other day in New York with a friend of mine … I was shooting, I was going through my routine just like I’d always done. Yeah, I was a little winded, but I was able to go through my routine like I’d always gone though my routine and I didn’t feel like I’d missed any time in doing what I was doing. For me, it’s not ‘Can I do it anymore?’ It’s how I feel after I do it. And yesterday, I felt great.”

Spike Lee and Ray Allen has some history together, as Ray Allen starred in Spike Lee’s famous movie, “He Got Game.”  So it makes perfect sense for both of these guys to have a good relationship, which might be good enough to get Ray Allen to New York.
