Terry Stotts Fires Back At George Karl Over Criticism

Over the last few weeks, George Karl has been making the headlines for all of the wrong reasons.  Karl criticized his former players such as Carmelo Anthony, Jr Smith, and Kenyon Martin in his upcoming book “Furious George.”

Many of the players, coaches, and fans all disagree with Karl and believe that he’s in the wrong.  Karl’s criticism towards these guys serves no purpose, and he is ruining a legacy that he once had.

But George Karl didn’t stop with criticizing just his former players. Karl has now called out the Portland Trailblazers point guard Damian Lillard.

During an interview with David Marchese of NYMAG yesterday morning, Karl gave his thoughts on why the Trailblazers are struggling this season.

“I was watching the Portland Trailblazers (sic) play, and I was trying to figure out, What the hell is wrong with this team?  My conclusion is that Damian Lillard is getting too much attention.” Karl added: “I think their coach, Terry Stotts, is a great coach. So I’m going to say the problem is Lillard. They were a together, connected, committed team last year. This year they’re not. What changed?”

Well Lillard’s head coach Terry Stotts stepped in, to defend his point guard.

How can you criticize a guy like Damian Lillard considering he’s a superstar, humble, and he has high character.  Dame is well respected on and off the court, and he’s playing out of his mind this season.

Lillard is averaging 27 ppg, 4.5 rpg, and 6.2 apg for the Blazers this season.

It’s amazing how an NBA coach who was well respected around the league, is willing to tarnish his legacy over a book.  It’s going to be difficult for him to land another coaching job after his recent behavior.  As a player, it will be difficult to trust him.
