After tough losses to the Denver Broncos and New York Giants, all eyes are on the defending champion Philadelphia Eagles, who seem to be falling apart since their hot 4-0 start and 287-day unbeaten streak.
With rare issues on their offensive line and a lack of depth in their secondary, the Eagles look vulnerable and unlike the team fans expected them to be this season.
But, thankfully for Eagles fans, this core of players under Head Coach Nick Sirianni is no stranger to adversity.
Disappointing End to 2023
A season after losing in the Super Bowl to the Kansas City Chiefs, the Philadelphia Eagles started the 2023 season 10-1 and were one of the favorites to make it back to the big game.
With six games remaining, everything felt good in Philly. That was until they ran into the San Francisco 49ers, whom the Eagles eliminated in the playoffs the season before. The 49ers won convincingly at Lincoln Financial Field, and the Philadelphia Eagles went on to lose five of their last six.
With an 11-6 record, the Eagles faced the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in a Wild Card matchup; the contest quickly turned into a rout, with Philadelphia losing 32-9.
After a hot start, the Eagles ended the season in disappointment thanks to a horrible second-half finish.

Eagles’ Slow Start to 2024
Last season, Philadelphia was 2-2 heading into their Week 5 bye. At the time, many thought the team’s slump from the season before had carried into this campaign. Fans were calling for the firing of Sirianni and questioning the ability of QB Jalen Hurts.
After the bye week, the Eagles built their way back up and lost only one game for the rest of the season en route to winning the Super Bowl.
Nick Sirianni went from the hot seat to Super Bowl champion in the span of a few months. Hurts, fans questioned at the start of the season, walked away with the Super Bowl MVP trophy.
If there is anything to take away from these Eagles “collapses,” it is that they’ve already come back from one before in the most glamorous way.
Looking at 2025
Even with the past in mind, there are still obvious holes in this current Philadelphia team that they must address.
Some of their issues could be credited to personnel lost in the offseason. Injuries are another factor to take into consideration.
Philly’s streak nature has brought the Eagles to some low lows, but when they get back on a hot streak, the Eagles look unstoppable. It’s led them to some historic unbeaten runs, including the one that brought them to the Super Bowl last season.
The Eagles are like a good playoff baseball team. Yes, there will be slumps, but they are as dangerous as a football team gets if you let them get hot at the right time.
If the Eagles get stuck in this rut with a lackadaisical approach, it could end as a disaster; but if they turn things around soon, they could be on the brink of another historic run.
