The Dallas Mavericks will be honoring Tony Romo, former Dallas Cowboys quarterback who retired over the past week, at their final regular season home game making him a “maverick for a day.”
Romo will be in uniform and also on the Mavericks bench as well, according to Marc Stein of ESPN.
Head Coach Rick Carlisle was texting with reporters about the possibility of Romo actually getting playing time.
“Along with Mark Cuban and the Mavs organization, I very much look forward to honoring one of Dallas’ all-time best athletes and people with a very special experience. I can’t get into specific details at this time, but encourage fans to be in their seats when warm-ups begin at 715 pm.”
The Mavericks are planning a special night for Romo, but chances are he will not play.
Earlier this week, having since retired, Romo will be a broadcaster for CBS Sports
