With last night’s loss to the Houston Rockets, the Milwaukee Bucks fell to a 34-31 record, which dropped them to the 8th spot in the East. In the past nine games, the Bucks have gone 2-7 and it has me thinking the unpopular opinion, why should the Bucks even make the playoffs?
I may or may not get a lot of backlash for that statement, but after watching this team go night in and night out playing pitiful basketball, I believe it is the right question to ask. To be given hope all season long, just to have my dreams of this team potentially contending be squandered is cruel and honestly pointless.
Yes, there are some teams out there in the league that their fan base would do anything for them to make the playoffs, but with the picture the Buck’s organization has painted the past couple of seasons we are past the point of just hoping for a playoff berth.
The future is supposed to be bright for this Bucks team, but with each season that passes as mediocre, I am sorry to say, but the light that once shined so bright is slowly, but surely fading. It is time to stop being blinded by the front offices attempts to wheel and deal the fan base into thinking this is a sight to see, because if you look past the smoke and mirrors, average play is not a sight for sore eyes.
Giannis Can Do It All, But He Shouldn’t Have To
Having the Bucks enter the playoffs this season at best the 6th seed, would just be a waste a time. With the latest performance, I cannot trust this team to beat any opponent left at the end of the season in a series. That seems off to say since we have an MVP caliber player in Giannis Antetokounmpo, but when it comes down to it, that statement is true.
Sure, being in the playoffs would bring more attention to the Bucks and Milwaukee, but that coverage would potentially do more harm than good. All that it would lead to is more and more people questioning, what is wrong with Milwaukee?
Loyalty can only go so far, so the rumors of Giannis eventually leaving the Bucks will only become louder and potentially become true. Wasting a superstar’s potentially by not building a talented team around him might be the road the Bucks are travelling on.
Nobody wants Giannis to stay right here in the Cream City more than me, but if these less than stellar seasons continue, I would not blame him if he decided to take his talents elsewhere. The season still has a way to go, but unfortunately, time is running out to turn it around and have me take this Bucks team seriously.
I do not want another playoff run that leads to an early exit and many trying to convince me that they will be in it next year. There are only so many next year(s) that I am willing to take. As the supportive fan base that we are, we need to stop lying to ourselves that this team is still growing and that they will figure it out. I’m putting the spotlight on this organization to stop hiding behind the new arena and Giannis. Put something together soon or you’ll be the team of what could have been. The Bucks might have the glitz, but they do not have the glamour.
