It seems like almost anything that can go wrong for the Clippers this series will. After losing Chris Paul with a broken bone in his hand in Game four, Austin Rivers was bumped up to the starting point guard position. Injury would strike the Clippers again, this time Rivers in particularly as he would suffer an gruesome left eye injury early in the first quarter of Friday night’s Game. After going for a rebound, Rivers was accidentally struck in the eye by Trail Blazers forward Al-Farouq Aminu, instantly dropping to the ground. Blood was pouring out of Rivers’ eye before the medical staff helped him to the locker room to get cleaned up and checked out. Rivers had four stitches on the top and seven stitches on the bottom, but ultimately retuned back to the court with five minutes left in the first half. With not only the series, but their entire season on the line down 3-2 versus the Blazers, one can only admire Rivers’ fortitude.
