Waiver Wire Week 16 – Fantasy Football 2024

As the fantasy playoffs move along, we continue to squeeze the final juice out of the waiver wire in Week 16.

Injuries have continued to open up playing time for young players, and a few players in this week’s column offer strong outlooks as streaming options in Week 16. As always, I’ll be here every Tuesday with my top waiver adds of the week. Percentages are based on ESPN’s rostered player data.

Quarterbacks

Aaron Rodgers, New York Jets (43.8%)

Rodgers came through in a big way last week for those who picked him up. His connection with Davante Adams looks as good as ever, and Garrett Wilson is always available on the other side. The Jets get another nice matchup against the Rams this week, making Rodgers a solid streaming option again in Week 16.

Mac Jones, Jacksonville Jaguars (1.5%)

The idea of starting Jones with the season on the line seems crazy until you realize he’s playing the Raiders. Jones has played well lately, too, providing low-end QB1 numbers in two of his last three games. He’s been able to feed Brian Thomas, and that’s the name of the game in Jacksonville, so I’m not afraid of turning to Jones if needed.

Running Backs

Jerome Ford, Cleveland Browns (32.4%)

With Nick Chubb out for the season, Ford will take over as the starting back in Cleveland. We saw Ford as a capable starter last year when Chubb was out, and he figures to provide RB2 production in a friendly Week 16 matchup against the Bengals.

Kendre Miller, New Orleans Saints (8.0%)

Miller took over as the lead back during the fourth quarter of last week’s game against the Commanders after Alvin Kamara exited due to a groin injury. Should Kamara miss this week’s game, Miller will fill in as the starter and see his largest workload against Green Bay. The Packers’ run defense has been formidable this year, and the Saints don’t project to score many points in Week 16, but Miller’s potential volume makes him worth adding.

Wide Receivers

Romeo Doubs, Green Bay Packers (40.4%)

After missing two games due to a concussion, Doubs returned and scored two touchdowns against the Seahawks on Sunday night.

While Packers wideouts don’t provide much certainty weekly, Doubs averages 5.3 targets per game, and he’s one of Jordan Love‘s favorite red-zone targets. He’ll get a nice matchup against the Saints on Monday night, but it’s easy to see a scenario where the Packers don’t need to throw the ball much after halftime.

Jalen McMillan, Tampa Bay Buccaneers (10.3%)

McMillan has scored three touchdowns over the past two games and has solidified himself as the No. 2 receiver on the Bucs. He’ll face the Cowboys in Week 16, and they’ll offer him a good chance to extend his streak.

Tight Ends

Brenton Strange, Jacksonville Jaguars (2.1%)

Strange earned 12 targets in his first action as a starter since Evan Engram went down for the season. He took advantage of those looks, catching 11 balls for 73 yards. Besides draft position, the Jaguars are playing with nothing to lose down the stretch, and we should see another solid effort from Mac Jones and company as they head to Vegas in Week 16.

Noah Gray, Kansas City Chiefs (13.2%)

Gray’s target numbers have been solid lately, averaging five over his past five games. He’s unlikely to reach double-digit fantasy numbers unless he gets in the end zone, but he’s also done that five times in the past five games.
