Russell Westbrook says he really didn’t care about his historic numbers at the end of November, and not much has changed as the Oklahoma City Thunder guard’s name is now being brought up in league Most Valuable Player conversations.
When he was asked Sunday if he felt “hypothetically” someone should win the MVP award if their team doesn’t finish in the top two, Westbrook stayed true to his message.
“I don’t know. I’m not sure,” he said in a video from the Norman Transcript’s Fred Katz. “I don’t know how the voting goes or anything. I really don’t care honestly.”
About the award or about the process?
“About none of it,” Westbrook said. “A championship has always been the most important goal for me and it always has been.”
Russell Westbrook’s streak of seven straight triple-doubles may have ended Sunday against the Boston Celtics, but the Oklahoma City Thunder guard was as mesmerizing as ever, particularly in the game’s deciding moments.
