The Wizards have done it. The culmination of a brutal three-year tank, resulting in a combined 50 wins, is that AJ Dybantsa is a Washington Wizard.

The first-ranked prospect in his class for years, Dybantsa has been touted as a franchise-changing level prospect. Now he will get to show it. DC has been looking for a savior for basketball, nearing half of a century without a 50-win season.

A majority of Wizards fans have never seen true contending-level success. AJ Dybantsa is here to change that; DC got their guy.

AJ is the Face of the Wizards

The Wizards have been looking for a real face of the franchise for the entire decade. John Wall was traded in 2020 after playing just 73 games over the previous three seasons, becoming an afterthought in the NBA world.

Bradley Beal was what was left, not a real face of the team, just a placeholder. Since then, it’s been a mix of Kyle Kuzma, Jordan Poole, Alex Sarr, and, more recently, Trae Young and Anthony Davis who have been headlining the team.

AJ Dybantsa is more than all of them.

Dybantsa knows how to draw headlines. From his pre-draft tour run, popular edit voicing over Gunna’s On One Tonight, and his YouTube channel, AJ is a brand. The Wizards haven’t had anybody like this since John Wall came out of Kentucky.

Media matters, and as fans, how other fans see your team matters. The Wizards aren’t just a joke anymore. They have a player with true charisma.

Wizards’ Long-Term Outlook with Dybantsa

AJ Dybantsa, Alex Sarr, Kyshawn George; there aren’t many teams with a better young trio than that. All 22 and under, all 6-foot-8 and taller, and all bucket getters. Those three mesh tremendously, with a trio that fills each other’s deficiencies and plays into the Wizards’ team-building based on length.

Add in a plethora of young talent headlined by Tre Johnson, Bilal Coulibaly, Justin Champagnie, Will Riley, and Bub Carrington and the Wizards are left with one of the best young cores in the league.

AJ Dybantsa has his goals set out. He said he wants to bring a championship to DC. He’s stated that multiple times since being drafted just last week.

It may take years to know if Dybantsa can truly with a title in DC, if he is the savior all fans hope for. But you see that word? Hope. Wizards fans have been devoid of that for a long time.

AJ Dybantsa is here to save the Wizards.
