Markelle Fultz on When the 76ers Will Start Winning, “As Soon As I Get There”

Future number 1 overall pick, Markelle Fultz has been more than ecstatic to live out his dream to become an NBA player this Thursday. He’s been the clear cut number 1 pick & most NBA ready player in this impressive draft class.

Via Bleacher Report, when Fultz was asked about when the Philadelphia 76ers (no winning seasons in 5 years) are going to start winning, he answered, “As soon as I get there.”

Fultz’s confidence can get him very far in this star driven league. When it was announced that Philly would be trading to move two picks up in order to draft the 19 year old, it really spoke volumes how much further ahead Fultz is from other players in this draft.

Although the Sixers might’ve just shot theirselves in the foot, as the Celtics claimed they’re still going to be able to draft the same prospect they would after moving down two picks (Josh Jackson?). As well as the Lakers trading their number 2 overall pick from 2015, PG D’Angelo Russell to make way for a new point guard (Lonzo Ball). The 76ers gave away their third overall pick and 3 possible first rounders for the next two seasons for a guy they might’ve gotten with that pick anyways…

Philadelphia is willing to throw away those future assets to solidify that they’ll be able to form a Big 3 of Markelle Fultz (19), Joel Embiid (23) & Ben Simmons (20). Assuming all three remain healthy, this could be the team that fights with Boston in the near future for the Eastern Conference championship once LeBron James becomes human again & gets closer & closer to his inevitable retirement.

It’s hard not to fall in love with the 19 year old out of Washington as a GM when he has such high aspirations, “I actually want to be the best to ever play this game…” Fultz said, “I think I have a pretty good chance to do that.”
