With just 19 games into the season, the Memphis Grizzlies announced they are parting ways with head coach David Fizdale. The team also announced that J.B. Bickerstaff will be the interim head coach.

“After a thorough evaluation, I decided a change in course was necessary to move forward and provide the team and organization its best chance at success this season and beyond,” general manager Chris Wallace said. “Coach Fizdale represented the Grizzlies and City of Memphis proudly, and we wish him well as he continues his career.”

The news is coming just a day after the Grizzlies 98-88 home loss to the Brooklyn Nets, which star center Marc Gasol told reporters he was not happy being benched in the fourth quarter.

” I don’t believe much in words after all this time. Words are just that. I believe more in actions. I see what people do, and I act,” Gasol said. Surprisingly enough, the next day (which is today), Fizdale is out.

This has left many stunned throughout the entire league.

The Grizzlies are now 7-12 and have lost eight straight games.
