After an injury-riddled season paired with inconsistency, the Green Bay Packers did not live up to the expectations many had for them last year.

The Packers finished with a 9-7-1 record and entered the playoffs on a four-game losing streak. That was far from an ideal way to close the regular season. Although the team’s health was at an all-time low during that stretch, a few wins could have built confidence and created momentum heading into the playoffs.

Green Bay’s season came to an end with a disappointing first-round playoff loss in Chicago. The defeat came despite a sensational performance from quarterback Jordan Love. While the season did not end the way the Packers had hoped, the outlook for the 2026-27 season remains promising.

Packers’ Early Season Outlook

The Packers will open their 2026-27 campaign on the road against the Minnesota Vikings.

Looking at their first four games, Green Bay has a strong chance to win at least three contests. The stretch includes road games against the Vikings and Jets, a home opener against the Atlanta Falcons, and a trip to Tampa Bay.

Green Bay is well-positioned to open the season above .500.

Return of Kraft & Parsons

One of the biggest storylines for Green Bay entering the season is the recovery of Tucker Kraft and Micah Parsons. Both players saw their seasons end early due to torn ACL injuries.

Kraft suffered his injury in Week 9 against the Carolina Panthers. The Packers are hopeful he will be ready to go early in the season. After being described as “ahead of schedule,” Kraft appears to be on track for a return in the season-opening stretch.

Recording 489 receiving yards on 32 receptions and six total touchdowns in just eight games, Kraft will look to pick up where he left off after an outstanding start to last season.

Parsons, on the other hand, will likely need more time to recover. He is expected to spend the first four weeks of the season on the physically unable to perform list. That timeline would put his return sometime in mid-October.

If that happens, Parsons’ possible return could come in Green Bay’s Week 5 matchup against the Chicago Bears. It would be hard to script a better season debut.

While stat-lining 12.5 sacks, 41 tackles, and two forced fumbles before his injury, Parsons’ presence on the field is unmatched when healthy.

Bye Week and Finish

After having a very unfavorable bye week in Week 5 last season, the Packers should be encouraged by their Week 11 bye this year.

Considering the injuries Green Bay dealt with last season, the timing of a bye week can be more important than many realize. A late-season bye provides additional recovery time and can create momentum for the late-season stretch.

Another favorable aspect of the Packers’ schedule is how they finish the regular season. Green Bay will play four of its final five games at home. However, it is important to note that those final five games include matchups against the Bills, Texans, Lions, and Bears. All four are heavyweight teams.

The stretch begins with a Sunday Night Football matchup against the Buffalo Bills at Lambeau. It is followed by games against the Dolphins, Bears (road), Texans, and Lions to close the regular season.

Green Bay does hold an advantage during this stretch. The Frozen Tundra is never an easy place for opposing teams to play, especially from mid-December through early January.

Packers Fans Should Feel Hopeful

While nothing is guaranteed in the NFL, the Green Bay Packers enter the 2026-27 season in a stronger position. A favorable schedule and key players returning from injury give them a real chance to take a step forward.

The schedule alone will not define their success, but it sets up an opportunity for a strong season.
