A signature shoe line is one of the major markings of a superstar. It’s reserved for the best of the best. They’re a long, storied tradition and are a pop culture staple.

Basketball shoes reflect the athlete’s personality and brand. Over the past five years or so, multiple sneaker brands have signed athletes to exclusive shoe deals. New Balance, Puma, and Converse have all thrown their hats into the ring. This has led to more athletes than ever having their own shoe.

With such an influx of signature shoes, what are the top 5 in the NBA right now?

5. Nike LeBron XXIII

LeBron’s 23rd signature shoe is one of the best shoes in his collection. The signature on the tag and the Nike swoosh are great details that enhance the shoe. The gloss-like material gives the shoe a polished look. Each of the 23 colorways represents milestones in LeBron’s storied career.

The LeBron 23s look sleek and high-end. The low-cut shoes match LeBron’s playstyle in recent years, poised and comfortable.  LeBron’s shoes have grown with his game and maturity.

The LeBron 23s feel like classics in the making that will turn anybody’s head.

4.  Adidas Anthony Edwards 2

Although these are a step down from Edwards’ first shoe, the Edwards 2s are one of the best shoes in the league. The vibrant colors are the star of the show. The logos on the tongue and heel are the same on the first shoe.

The worst part of this shoe is that the accents on the toe look odd in some colorways, like the “With Love’ which is pictured above. The split at the front of the toe stops the shoe from reaching its full potential.

Even so, the Edwards twos are a shoe fit for an up-and-coming superstar like Anthony Edwards.

3. Harden Vol. 10

The Harden line is one of the most popular signature shoe lines in all of professional sports. The line helped Adidas step into the forefront of the basketball shoe game.

The Harden Vol. 10 is a perfect addition to the Harden line. This shoe can be worn on the court or off, and never looks out of place. The wavepool-like design on the sides is inventive and stands out. Everything else on the shoe is minimal, which makes the design stand out even more.

The holes on the toe of the shoe aren’t particularly flattering, but they don’t detract from the shoe’s beauty. The Harden Vol. 10 is a reflection of James Harden right now. A player who’s been in the league for years but can still wow with jaw-dropping highlights.

2. Converse Shai 001

The Shai 001s are unlike anything on the market. These shoes are Converse’s first major dip into the NBA signature shoe game in the modern era. The swade-like material gives the shoe a nice and unique look.

SGA is big into fashion, and his first signature shoe reflects that. The shoe has a streetwear feel with the zipper covering the laces. Unfortunately, the shoe’s side profile isn’t the most appealing since the zipper section covers so much of the shoe, but from the front, it’s hard to find a shoe that looks better.

The Shai 001 is the first installment in what promises to be a memorable signature shoe line that defines the 2020s.

1. Nike JA 3

The Nike Ja 3 is the best shoe in the NBA. The JA 3s are taking the league by storm with new colorways seemingly announced every day.

The different colorways are the best part of the shoe; EYBL and Channel 12 are two of the more popular colorways. The “JA” on the side of the shoe, using the swoosh, gives the shoe personality. The JA three is as loud and unabashed as Ja Morant himself.

The shoe jumps out on the court or on a shoe stand. This third shoe puts JA Morant’s signature line on an all-time trajectory.
