What’s Going on With Jabrill Peppers: A Timeline

It’s been a rough couple of weeks for Jabrill Peppers.

The Patriots’ safety could find himself out of the league due to domestic violence allegations that have reached the Quincy District Court.

Just three weeks ago, the team captain was on the field making big plays for New England. During the team’s week four matchup against the San Francisco 49ers, Peppers recorded an interception to breathe life back into the struggling Patriots.

A lot has happened since then. Here is a complete timeline of Peppers over the last few weeks.

October 5th: Peppers Ruled Out

Just two days before the Patriots’ week five matchup against the Miami Dolphins, New England ruled out Peppers from the contest with a shoulder injury. This would be the first game the safety would miss during the 2024 season.

October 7th: Police Announce Pepper’s Arrest

Massachusetts police report that the New England safety was arrested on Oct. 5th for assault and drug possession charges in Braintree, Massachusetts.

The other individual involved was revealed to be Peppers’ girlfriend, who claims Peppers choked her six times and pushed her down a flight of stairs. Peppers claimed that the alleged victim was erratic and refused to leave his home, and her alleged fall down the stairs was due to intoxication.

Peppers appeared in the Quincy District court during an arraignment hearing that same morning. He pleaded not guilty to all counts and posted a $2,500 bail.

October 9th: Peppers Barred From Practicing or Playing in Games

The Patriots placed Peppers on the commissioner’s exempt list just two days following the arraignment. While on the list, the team captain is unable to practice or attend games. During a press conference that same day, head coach Jerod Mayo confirmed the move.

“As a father of three daughters, I definitely understand the seriousness of the allegations,” said Mayo.

October 13th: Robert Kraft Comments

Patriots owner Robert Kraft addressed the situation during an appearance on “The Breakfast Club.”

“If what was reported is true he’s gone,” Kraft said. “There have been some suggestions that this was a set-up and a lot of what was reported isn’t accurate … We want to get the facts.”

Although this saga is far from over, many questions loom about Pepper’s future. It’s uncertain whether the eight-year veteran will play for the Patriots again, or even be able to continue his career in the NFL.
