It has been a rough start to the season for Kawhi Leonard and things are not looking any better. Today San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich announced that superstar forward Kawhi Leonard has a ‘partial tear’ in his left shoulder. The injury occurred in the Spurs’ Friday night 103-89 win against the Phoenix Suns. Players on the team were reportedly saying that the injury is not serious.

Leonard has only played eight games this season due to suffering a sprained ankle, in last year’s Western Conference Finals against the Golden State Warriors, a matchup in which the Spurs had the edge early in game 1 until his injury.

In the eight games that Leonard has played this season, he has averaged 15.9 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 2 steals per contest. Popovich expects Leonard to play during the Spurs’ West Coast trip.
