Free Agent center Andrew Bogut has signed a one-year, $2.3 million with the Lakers, according to his agent, David Bauman. Bogut, who is coming off a rough season where he got traded and sustained a fractured leg, joins a young Lakers squad that has NBA fans intrigued about their potential.

Many factors contributed to Bogut picking the Lakers over another championship contending team. One reason is that he gets to reunite with former coach and long time friend, Luke Walton. Walton was an assistant coach with the Golden State Warriors from 2014-2016 and was a huge favorite among all the players. Another reason is the key roster additions the Lakers made over the offseason. Drafting Lonzo Ball and Kyle Kuzma, signing Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, and acquiring Brook Lopez have molded the Lakers into potential playoff contenders. With a key veteran like Bogut, this young squad could make some noise in the playoffs.

Bogut has established himself as an elite defensive presence and frontcourt passer in 12 NBA seasons with Milwaukee, Golden State, Dallas and Cleveland, averaging 10 points, 8.9 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.6 blocks. He was the No. 1 overall pick by the Bucks in the 2005 NBA draft.
