Cavs Ship Thomas, Frye To Lakers For Clarkson, Nance

The Cleveland Cavaliers were looking to make a big move at the trade deadline, and they did just that.

The Cavs are sending PG Isaiah Thomas, C Channing Frye, and their 2018 first-round pick to the Los Angeles Lakers in exchange for G Jordan Clarkson and F Larry Nance Jr. The Cleveland pick is protected.

The Cavs have been struggling as of late and needed a roster shake up to provide a spark going forward. While Isaiah Thomas seemed to be a solid replacement for Kyrie Irving back in the summer, the 5’9″ guard hasn’t played nearly as well as he did last season. Clarkson and Nance are two solid, young players who can have an immediate impact on the Cavs and their push to reach a fourth straight NBA Finals.

As for the Lakers, they have been playing well of late, winning 7 of their last 10 games. However, getting rid of Clarkson’s contract will allow the Lakers to pursue some big name free agents come this offseason.
