The Kings Stall Out Against Washington

The Kings suffered a 110-83 loss to the Washington Wizards on a tough offensive night for the Kings. The basket seemed to be sealed shut for the Kings, who shot just 39% from the field.

This game came on the heels of a heartbreaking loss to the Pelicans on Thursday, where Sacramento let New Orleans mount a 19-point comeback. The team, however, never got going against Washington.

John Wall and Otto Porter Jr. combined for 35 points and Mike Scott added 13 points off the bench. Offensively, the Wizards were far from typical form, but bullied the Kings all game long and kept them out of sorts.

With George Hill and Zach Randolph out to rest, Dave Joerger went with De’Aaron Fox, Buddy Hield, Bogdan Bogdanovic, Skal Labissiere, and Willie Cauely-Stien to start the game. Despite the exciting buzz surrounding the young starting five, they were quickly overwhelmed by the Wizards defense and were never able to get into a rhythm. Washington started the game on 13-0 run and the Kings could never recover.

Bogdanovic was a bright spot for the Kings, as he scored 15 points on 7/9 shooting. He got several open looks and shot confidently, but it wasn’t enough to keep the game competitive.

At one point, the Kings trailed by 38-points, finally losing by 27-points, their largest margin of loss this season. The starters saw very few minutes in the 4th quarter as the reserves ended out the game. Frank Mason III and Malachi Richardson came off the bench to add 11 and 10 points respectively.

Bogdanovic was the Kings’ leading scorer, while Labissiere contributed 10 point and 4 rebounds. Sacramento’s record falls to 1-5 and the team travels next to Indiana to face the Pacers on Tuesday.
