NBA Significant Contract Extensions

on

NBA teams had the entire day of November 1st to extend the contracts of players who were drafted in the 2013 NBA draft. Yesterday there was eight young talented players who agreed on an extension.

C.J. McCollum 4-Year, $106 Million Extension

The Portland Trail Blazers have a young talented team, and with McCollum resigning they have more hope for a future championship run. McCollum brings a scoring ability that other teams have trouble stopping, and he plays consistent defense. With a backcourt of Damian Lillard and C.J. McCollum the Portland Trail Blazers will consistently win games and continue to grow together.

Rudy Gobert 4-Year, $102 Million Extension

With the Utah Jazz already having capable scorers, including Gordon Hayward and Derrick Favors, Rudy Gobert could be the perfect center for the team. He brings a huge defensive presence in the paint, and grabs double-digit rebounds. He ensures that the team will be good on both ends of the basketball court.

Steven Adams 4-Year, $100 Million Extension/ Victor Oladipo 4-Year, $84 Million Extension

The biggest story of the 2016 NBA offseason was Kevin Durant’s departure from the Oklahoma City Thunder. Russell Westbrook is now the unquestioned leader of the team and Oklahoma’s coaching staff needs to keep good talent around him. Extending two talented starters’ contracts was a perfect starting point. It will encourage big name free agents to join Westbrook in the offseason and it allows Westbrook to further respect his teammates.

Giannis Antetokounmpo 4-Year, $100 Million Extension

The Milwaukee Bucks have a young roster with a promising amount of talent. And with a great all-around skill set, and currently averaging 23.3 PPG 9.5 RPG and 5.8 APG, Giannis Antetokounmpo is most likely to become something great in the NBA. With this extension the Milwaukee Bucks should be fighting for a playoff spot for the next several seasons.
